In 2015, UK Government backed research was published which clearly indicated a need for better availability of provision in building social emotional skills (SES), which directly relate to how adults and young people live healthier, happier and more enjoyable lives.

Refugees and Mentors is a new social enterprise tackling unemployment by enabling refugees to improve their job prospects. Before being forced to flee their home country, many people were working or studying. However in Greater Manchester unemployment for refugees is high, at around 44%, compared to 6% across the general population.

Manchester City Council recognises the important role Work Clubs play in providing flexible and informal employment support to workless Manchester residents.

In recognition of the valuable role Work Clubs play in delivering employment support services, Manchester City Council has made available grant funding for Manchester Work Clubs to apply for.

We have extended the deadline to complete our State of the Sector survey to 18 December 2016.

We would like to encourage your organisation to complete our important survey as we want to know how the government cuts and economic recession have affected our sector. We need to know how many groups have lost funding, how many have had to reduce services and how many have had to close or are facing closure. But also how we continue to work together providing valuable services and support to the people of Manchester.
