Generations Together Manifesto

Age Friendly Manchester is developing a Generations Together Manifesto. This is all about creating a set of key actions that Council and other organisations can use in their work bringing older and younger people together. Age Friendly Manchester have some early ideas of what could be in the manifesto. These have come from a two day Intergenerational symposium that they held last October at the Coop. Greater Manchester is on countdown to elect their first ever mayor. As the hustings come to a close, we can reflect on the pledges and views that have been shared by candidates to win votes on Thursday 4th May. To see some of the candidates in action, here are three short films made at the recent Older Peoples Greater Manchester Network event, featuring invited candidates: Sean Anstee, Conservative; Jane Brophy, Liberal Democrats; Andy Burnham, Labour; and Will Paterson, Green Party.

Sporting Memories group

The sessions will be held on Mondays, 10:30am-12pm, fortnightly from 27 February 2017 at the National Football Museum, Cathedral Gardens, Manchester, M4 3BG.

Older Peoples message to the Greater Manchester Mayoral Candidates

A group of older people across Greater Manchester have drafted up key messages to present to Mayoral Candidates. Today they’ve released two films documenting their questions, requests and ideas which focus on the big issues including health, transport, homes and democracy.

The short films made by and featuring members of the Greater Manchester Older Peoples Network talk about their views and hopes for an age friendly Greater Manchester. The scale of the task to unite the 10 districts of Greater Manchester was highlighted as a concern.
