Putting the Our Manchester Principles into Practice

Registration is closed for this event
Manchester City Council has adopted a set of principles called the “Our Manchester Principles”, which is a long-term and ambitious attempt to change the way the Council and its partners carry out their work.

These principles are embedded into Manchester City Council’s largest grants programme, the “Our Manchester Grants Programme”.

Principle 1: Better Lives (it’s about people)

Principle 2: Listening (we listen, learn and respond)

Principle 3: Recognising Strengths of Individuals and Communities (we start from strengths)

Principle 4: Working Together (we build relationships and create conversations)

This workshop will cover briefly what the Our Manchester Approach means for the work of Manchester City Council. It will then in practical terms, explore what the Our Manchester principles mean for the way that voluntary and community sector organisations evaluate, monitor, organise, plan and carry out their activities. Through a clear and well-structured process, it will help you to plan how your organisation can make more effective use out of personal, organisational and community assets.

The workshop is for voluntary and community sector trustees, staff or volunteers involved in running, managing or planning activities for people living in Manchester and public sector staff working with voluntary sector organisations.

The workshop will be a mix of presentation, discussion and interactive exercises.

The workshop will be facilitated by Nigel Rose, Strategic Lead (Commissioning) one of the main architects of Our Manchester Grants Programme.
