Could you support a charity to transform the way they offer support?

Spoons is a charity that supports families experiencing neonatal care. We provide peer to peer support on the neonatal unit and in the wider community. Our charity is led by volunteers who have experienced their own neonatal journey. We understand how tough the neonatal journey can be and we know it can feel really lonely. More so at this time of social distancing.

We plan to set up a telephone support service to replace our current one to one peer support sessions and would like some help to do this. This is a very different way of working and we are looking for a volunteer with a background in this area that could support us to successful make this transition.

Currently we are still working on a plan of this can work best. As we are usually based in an NHS setting we are aware that it may be some time before we can return to normal and so these changes to support would be for the foreseeable future.

• The initial idea is to turn all services from physical support to remote support. We are hoping to being making these changes in June and it is likely to be delivered via telephone due to technical restrictions.

• You would be working closely with our Chair of Trustees to create this with the potential to carry out training to volunteers if that’s within the skillset.

• This is initially a short-term flexible role . Availability can be discussed at a later stage.

We are looking for someone who:

- has experience of setting up or working with telephone support services including knowledge in relevant areas of governance, GDPR and confidentiality.
- has experience of coordinating volunteers and services
- has a positive and enthusiastic attitude
- has experience of proactive problem solving/implementing change

If you can help, please fill in this form and we will pass on your details to the organisation and they will get in touch with you if they require your support.
