A workshop for voluntary and community sector organisations within the city of Manchester

Aim of the workshop
To ensure voluntary and community sector organisations are familiar with the requirements of the Equality Act 2010, and the implications of the Act for their organisations, specifically in relation to employment.

Learning Outcomes
Participants are familiar with the requirement of the Equality Act 2010 in relation to:

  • The new approach to "Protected Characteristics" and the aspects which have changed;
  • Changes and extension to all the definitions of discrimination;
  • The new provisions relating to disability and pre-employment questionnaires;
  • The opportunities for postive action and other exceptions;
  • The requirements relating to Equal Pay;
  • The public sector duty: what's expected

Participants are aware of the implications of the Equality Act 2010 for voluntary and community sector organisations

Participants should be able to identify the actions that need to be taken in order to ensure compliance with the legislation.
