Bury People First is a charity which supports adults with a learning disability to speak up for themselves through training, information gathering, peer support and involvement at all levels of service development. Bury People First are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to work on a new project which is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
The Project Worker will support learning disabled adults to develop and sustain group advocacy and hate crime awareness work within the Wider project.
You will work alongside various people such as:
• Parents and Carers
• Social Workers
• People working in Learning Disability Services
• Bury Council
You will need to have excellent communication skills and have a commitment to delivering support to people according to individual need. You will need to be aware of the issues around people with learning disabilities being an active part of their communities and be able to deliver accessible information.
You must have the ability to work with individuals or groups of people and have a flexible approach to your work that reflects the needs and aspirations of individuals.
Your base will be the Bury People First office. However, some of your work may be carried out within the community of Bury.
