5 Aug 2016 - 10:32 by michelle.foster

The Police and Crime Commissioner would like to make you aware of the imminent release of his second cycle of small grants funding – The Active Citizen’s fund, available to Community and Voluntary groups and organisations, funding projects of up to £5,000.

The Commissioner is planning to launch this second cycle at the beginning of September 2016. The fund will be suitable for: · Projects aimed at reducing demand on policing services (without displacing demand on other services)
· Projects which encourage organisations to build capacity within their organisations and improve the voluntary network, including vulnerable groups, i.e.: dementia watch, street pastors
· Projects which encourage citizens to become involved in local community projects and organisations
· Projects which seek to increase resilience within the community

Themes
· Increasing 'neighbourliness' and reducing vulnerabilities
· Making your neighbourhood safe
· Reducing crime and antisocial behaviour and hate crime
· Building safer, stronger communities
· Supporting vulnerable victims of crime

The Police and Crime Commissioner is currently in the process of updating guidance information and are planning a number of Community Engagement events which will take place throughout August and early September, providing practical information on the grants application process.

It is anticipated that the application process will close on the 22 September and it is aimed to have the appraisal process completed in time for announcements in early December 2016.
