Alcohol Services Consultation

4 Jul 2014 - 12:13 by john.butler

Manchester City Council’s Public Health team is currently looking at how alcohol early intervention and treatment services are delivered within the city. They are looking at how the whole system can be redesigned, following a review earlier this year that identified ways the current system could be improved.

They want to take into account the opinions and views of a range of people. This includes current and ex-service users and their carers, people involved in providing alcohol services, providers of other services in the city, and members of the public with an interest.

An online survey will give people the opportunity to tell them what you think is important for alcohol early intervention and treatment services, how you think services should look, and your views on the outcomes you think are important for service users. The survey will close at 5pm on 8 August 2014. To complete the survey, go to www.manchester.gov.uk/consultations.

They also have a limited number of paper copies of the questionnaire for people who do not have access to the internet, these are available from alcohol treatment services, at the engagement events (details below) or by contacting [email protected] or 0161 219 6922.

They will be holding four engagement events across the city, where people can find out about the alcohol services redesign. These are aimed at service users and carers, alcohol service staff and volunteers, and staff in other services that work with people who misuse alcohol. The events will be held on:

Monday 14 July, 1am to 12pm
Irish World Heritage Centre, 1 Irish Town Way, Cheetham Hill, Manchester, M8 0AE
Friday 18 July, 10am to 12pm
Meeting Room 2, Forum Centre, Forum Square, Wythenshawe, Manchester, M22 5RX
Monday 21 July, 10am to 12pm
Upper Hall, Friends Meeting House, 6 Mount Street, Manchester, M2 5NS
Monday 21 July, 2pm to 4pm
Luther King House, Brighton Grove (off Wilmslow Road), Fallowfield, Manchester, M14 5JP

To book a place at one of these events, contact Richard Taylor in Public Health Manchester by emailing [email protected] or phoning 0161 219 6922. You can also contact them this way if you would like to ask any questions about this consultation or the engagement events.
