Anxiety UK Peer Mentoring Project

7 Jul 2011 - 10:14 by michelle.foster

Anxiety UK has implemented a new peer mentoring project in Manchester which started in 2010 and is designed to help individuals who are currently suffering from anxiety or depression.

This project aims to support individuals suffering from an Anxiety condition/depression by matching them with a mentor who has previously suffered from a similar condition. During the 6 months the mentoring relationship will allow each other to move forward with coping with anxiety, gaining confidence or working towards employment, training or volunteering.

The project is looking for individuals who would like to be matched with a mentor to gain support with anxiety or depression and for individuals who have come out the other side of suffering with their mental health to become volunteer mentors.

The project is based in Hulme, however for those who are unable to leave the house mentors can travel to individual's homes or to another location. The project only covers areas under Manchester City Council, Salford and Trafford and mentees must be 18+.

For further information and to take part, contact Hayley Briggs, on 0161 226 7727, or email: mentoring@anxietyuk.org.uk.
