Apprenticeships - Join the Revolution

14 Sep 2012 - 12:16 by michelle.foster

Apprenticeships are changing. With over 200 different types of Apprenticeships across many industry sectors, there are more opportunities than ever before to undertake an Apprenticeship and earn whilst you learn. From finance to law, engineering to science, retail to healthcare, there is an Apprenticeship out there for you.

What are Apprenticeships?
Apprenticeships are real jobs and real careers with training. As paid employees, apprentices earn a wage and learn on the job whilst also attending college and working towards nationally recognised qualifications.

Anyone over the age of 16 years old can apply to become an apprentice, whether you are unemployed, leaving school, are already in work or wanting to start a new career.

Why should I become an Apprentice?
There are many benefits from becoming an apprentice:
• Unlike attending college or university, apprentices get paid whilst they learn
• Whilst undertaking an Apprenticeship you will learn a highly valued, skilled profession and work towards national recognised qualifications
• Employers themselves are increasingly seeing Apprentices as the best way of growing their business with loyal and qualified employees that benefit both the business and the individual
• Research suggests that an apprentice can earn on average £100,000 more over the duration of their career compared to other employees
