Community First Endowment Challenge in the North West

4 Jan 2013 - 11:24 by michelle.foster

Community Foundations operating across the North West have endowment match funding available for voluntary sector organisations wishing to endowment build.

The match is available via the Government’s Community First Endowment Challenge until March 2015.

Examples of types of scenarios that may qualify for the Community First Endowment Challenge include:
- A charity selling off land or wishing to maintain a building
- A voluntary and community organisation that is seeking to modernise the way it operates
- An organisation wanting to build an endowment for sustainability purposes

Organisations may qualify for endowment match funding as long as the organisation is willing to work in collaboration with their local Community Foundation and have around £25,000 upwards to invest.

The funds are available by Top Tier Local Authority Area and across the Community Foundation’s patches of Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.

The funding is available until March each year and until March 2015 on a 2:1 basis i.e. for every £2 donated, £1 will be provided as match and then invested in perpetuity with CCLA, offering a 4.5% yield each year for charitable spending.
