Compact Week 5 November - 9 November 2012

5 Oct 2012 - 09:53 by michelle.foster

Compact Week is an annual celebration, which takes place across England to promote and recognise the Compact - the longstanding agreement that sets out shared commitments and guidelines for partnership working between government and the voluntary sector.

The theme for 2012 Compact Week is Valued Partners: Making Best Value Meaningful.

In the era of Best Value Guidance, there is an increased emphasis on the role of local commissioners, with a wealth of new partnership structures emerging in areas such as health, and changes to how services are delivered with the impending introduction of the Social Value Act, which due to come into place in January 2013.

This year, Compact Week will be focusing on how Compact Voice can help to ensure that the vital role of the voluntary and community sector is recognised in this new landscape.

Compact Voice are organising a free afternoon conference on Wednesday 7 November at Central Hall Westminster, as part of this year’s Compact Week.

The conference will provide practical advice through workshops on new policy topics, including health partnerships, social value and meaningful engagement.

Compact Voice will also be hosting a panel discussion with some very special guest speakers – including Chris White MP, who tabled the Social Value Act, and David Brindle, editor of Society Guardian.

The conference is for representatives from across civil society: including the voluntary and community sector, social enterprises, people from local and central government, and anyone working in partnership across sectors.
