Connect Grants
The Community Media Association and Arts Council England have come together to promote Connect, which will provide grants of up to £3000 to support partnerships in England that will establish collaboration between the arts and community media. The partnerships should include at least one member of the Community Media Association and one Arts Council Regularly Funded Organisation.
Connect wants to support existing or fledgling partnerships and develop new ones so that creative partnerships can be established between arts organisations and the community media sector. The scheme is jointly promoted by the Community Media Association and Arts Council England.
Grants of up to £3000 will be available both to support the partnership and pay for the development of creative pieces of work. The partners will be expected to supplement the grant by bringing in resources of their own either through dedicated staff time or additional fundraising.
Projects will need to involve at least one Arts Council England Regularly Funded Organisation and one member of the Community Media Association. The project should explore how potential collaborative relationships could create and deliver innovative arts content, enhance participation in the artistic process and promote engagement with the arts. It should make the most of community media as a platform, producer and partner for the arts.
The three main priorities are that projects should:
• Display excellence and innovation in arts practice;
• Reach new audiences;
• Show innovation in their approach to new technologies.
All projects will be showcased at the Community Media Association conference in 2011.
