Donate Mobile

15 Mar 2013 - 09:12 by michelle.foster

New mobile phone service provider Donate Mobile, a dedicated third sector mobile phone service, has launched.

A simple SIM card swap to Donate Mobile enables 10% of a customer’s mobile phone bill to go to the customer’s nominated charity, at no extra cost to either the customer or the charity: Gift Aid can be applied to all qualifying donations.

The charity sector has suffered a significant decline in individual giving of 20% between 2010/11 and 2011/12 and so Donate Mobile offers charities a much needed opportunity to recoup vital funds, without the need to ask their supporters to give more in this difficult economic climate.

Donate Mobile aims to raise £15m for good causes in the next five years and is available to over 160,000 registered UK charities.

For charities who partner with Donate Mobile, the service can be integrated within existing campaigns, opening up a new revenue stream and means of communication through the use of mobile.

Mark Brunwin, Managing Director of Donate Mobile, comments: “We have spent many years working with the charity sector, learning about their needs and tailoring our offering to ensure that Donate Mobile will have a clear impact on committed giving by helping customers do something great with their SIM.’

“Our recently commissioned market research amongst the UK public shows there’s a real appetite for our service, with 67% of respondents telling us they would consider switching to the Donate Mobile service if 10% of their bill was going to their chosen charity. This is a really positive endorsement and we see this as a genuine opportunity to help reverse the decline in charitable giving in the UK.”

Donate Mobile uses an established UK mobile network, with 98% coverage, and is operated by a dedicated team of mobile telecoms experts who manage the whole service on behalf of the charities, including a UK based customer service team.

Initial charities partnering with Donate Mobile include CLIC Sargent, Dogs for the Disabled, Born Free Foundation, Aspinall Foundation, The Vasculitis Trust, St Oswalds Hospice, The Horse Trust, VIVA!, Pets as Therapy and Sport 4 Life.
