It is estimated there are over 400,000 problem gamblers in the UK and the Gambling Support Service delivered by Citizens Advice Wirral is offering free training to frontline staff and volunteers across the North West in order to offer support to any of your service users who might be struggling with this.
The free training lasts around an hour and a half and looks at a background to gambling, the size of the industry and reasons as to why people gamble along with defining and identifying gambling related harms and where we can refer problem gamblers for specialist support.
The Gambling Support Service also discuss a screening process which can be used to help identify problem gamblers.
Alongside the training the Gambling Support Service also offer shorter awareness sessions and attend community events to raise the profile of not just the service but also of problem gambling itself.
