26 Sep 2012 - 14:07 by michelle.foster

Learning from Zoe; A troubled teenager

The Manchester Safeguarding Children Board has piloted the new Social Case Institute for Excellence methodology focusing on a Manchester young person, who for the purpose of the events has been named 'Zoe'. The pilot has now been concluded and a number of findings recorded. The next step is to share these findings and consult with the Manchester children's workforce to inform an action plan.

It is now confirmed that 3 separate briefings will take place on 13, 14 and 15 November 2012 at the Etihad stadium, Manchester. The briefings will start at 9.30am and finish by 3pm. Lunch will be provided.

Aim of the events:
To share information and consult with the multi-agency children’s workforce in Manchester in order to develop an effective strategy for safeguarding ‘troubled teenagers’.

Objectives of the events:
• To have an increased awareness of the SCIE systems methodology; a new way of undertaking SCRs
• To share the learning from the experiences of Zoe and the practitioners involved in her story with the children’s workforce
• Discuss the findings of the SCIE systems methodology and link these with local and national serious case reviews
• Consult with the children’s workforce to inform a proposed action plan

It is felt that in order to ensure good representation of the children's workforce at this event allocation of places will be by nomination only.
