Greater Manchester Sports Fund

11 Mar 2010 - 16:41 by michelle.foster

The Greater Manchester Sports Fund aims to ensure that young people aged 12-21 competing in any kind of sport, irrespective of background, get the help they need to fulfil their potential.  Support is offered to talented young people, both able bodied and disabled who may otherwise not be able to afford to develop their sports skills.

Grants up to a maximum of £750 can be applied for during a 12-month period.  If successful applicants are awarded less than the maximum £750, they may be eligible to apply for further funding within the 12-month period, providing previous grants have been spent in full and appropriate receipts and End-of-Grant forms have been satisfactorily completed.

Fast-track grants of up to a maximum of £250 can also be applied for in time-critical emergencies; however, this is a limited funding stream and is reserved for those applicants who can demonstrate a critical need.  Fast-track applications can take up to 20 working days to process.

Applicants must ensure that they are athletes performing at national, regional or county level, and who have the potential to do so with appropriate funding, residing in one of the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester, (Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan).
