Manchester’s services for 0 - 5 year olds are changing and Manchester City Council want as many people as possible to influence the decisions they make.
Manchester City Council have been proud of their childcare offer for many years, but the difficult economic climate means that, like many other authorities across the country, new ways of working must be found.
In February 2011, as part of the drive to meet the challenge, plans for significant changes to Early Years and Sure Start services were announced.
Since then Manchester City Council have:
• had an independent review of how things are run
• listened to parents and carers
• looked at services provided by other organisations
This city-wide consultation will tell you exactly what Manchester City Council are proposing and will provide you with an opportunity to express your views.
Following consultation, the changes agreed will take place gradually over the next four years.
The proposals affect nursery children and childcare services. They do not affect schoolchildren.
From Monday 3 October, a number of information sessions will be taking place in children's centres across the city, to view the session taking place, visit: www.manchester.gov.uk/info/100005/education_and_schools/5178/sure_start_....
