This is Human

4 Aug 2017 - 15:38 by michelle.foster

This August, there is a fantastic takeover programme called This is Human taking place at HOME in Manchester. It launches on Wednesday 9 August at 6pm. Home

The programme has been developed over the past 12 months by a diverse team of young creatives aged 18-25. They have come up with ideas that are all about exploring what makes us human.

There will be a giant puppet, a video game, a Zen garden and an immersive installation which audiences can experience in their own time plus a series of live events and a film programme. Most of the programme is free, drop-in and accessible to all.

This distinctive and ambitious series of events will challenge your expectations of HOME through a programme of unique and unusual happenings in our galleries, cinemas and theatres through the month of August.

Taking inspiration from the brain and the four main areas controlling emotion, movement, biological rhythm and sense, this innovative project will combine sensory installations, live performances, interactive experiences and celebrations.

This is a fresh approach to experiencing art, curated, produced and commissioned by a group of 11 of Manchester’s emerging creatives, a collective formed through HOME’s Project X, featuring work from local artists and community groups.

Project X is generously supported by One Manchester, Places for People and The Helen Hamlyn Trust.
