The North West launch of a paper setting out ideas on how the House of Commons can be made more relevant to the public took place recently at the St Thomas Centre in Manchester.
The paper, written by an independent advisory council (SACPE) announced by the Speaker in 2009, highlights ideas and suggestions which detail how the public can better engage with the institution of Parliament and it broadly focuses around three themes: style, process and participation.
Voluntary Sector North West – who launched the paper in the region in partnership with GMCVO – is encouraging groups and individuals to feed in their views on how Parliament should change and adapt to allow better engagement by the public.
