Leadership required for GMCVO Board

28 Sep 2012 - 10:43 by michelle.foster

Are you a supporter of the voluntary sector? Do you value its independence, creativity and commitment? Do you believe it has a major role to play in the economic and social welfare of the people of Greater Manchester? Would you like to see it getting a fair share of resources and punching its weight with the policy-makers?

Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation (GMCVO) is seeking up to nine Honorary Board members for election at their AGM on 29 October 2012. This is an exciting time for GMCVO which is developing a diverse range of work aimed at the promotion, representation and development of the voluntary/third sector of Greater Manchester in the context of the city region.

Although GMCVO are open to all applications, GMCVO is particularly looking for Board members with experience in the following areas:
• Private sector experience, particularly if it includes an interest in relationships between business and the wider community
• Experience of the public service reform agenda in Greater Manchester

The economic and social challenges faced by Greater Manchester have led the current Board to identify significant implications for the local voluntary sector which will require strong leadership and innovation from GMCVO over the next period.

For an initial discussion and an application pack, contact Alex Whinnom (Director), on 0161 277 1004 or Stephen Little (Chair), on 0779 582 1476, or Tanya Coutts (Operations Manager), on 0161 277 1002.

GMCVO upholds equal opportunities and welcomes applications from anyone
