Details of cuts in revenue grants to local authorities were announced by the Communities and Local Government department on 10 June 2010.
The “savings”, which will take effect in the current finacial year, amount to £1.166 billion – local government’s share of the total government savings of £6.2 billion.
No local authority will face a reduction of more than 2 per cent.
Local councils in Greater Manchester will be required to make savings of between 0.6 per cent (Stockport and Trafford) and 1.1 per cent (Salford).
