Macmillan Cancer Support has embarked on a new approach to helping people affected by cancer in Manchester.
Cancer isn’t all about visiting doctors and hospitals and having treatment. Macmillan Cancer Support want to help people diagnosed with cancer carry on with the things that matter to them in their everyday lives. That’s where ‘Macmillan Solutions’ comes in. Macmillan’s trained volunteers offer whatever help’s going to make life easier and better for people with cancer – doing the shopping, helping with housework, walking the dog, and going along to appointments.
The Lead Volunteers are required to work alongside the current Lead Volunteer to help co-ordinate volunteers in the Longsight, Levenshulme and Gorton as well as other areas of Manchester.
Do you have experience supporting people in community settings, a good local knowledge of services in the Manchester area, enjoy working within a supportive team of volunteers, have a good sense of humour and knowledge of the needs of people affected by cancer.
This volunteering role is exciting, varied and rewarding, and would suit somebody with good organisational skills, with 2 days a week spare or equivalent hours. There are very few opportunities in life to see your actions make an immediate impact on others, this volunteering role offers you that, as you will see each week how you have helped people affected by cancer and really made a difference to their lives.
