The Big Lottery recently launched the Silver Dreams Fund, in association with the Daily Mail, offering an exciting new opportunity for groups to test out a range of ideas about new ways to support older people, whilst building on the wealth of experience and skills that they have to offer to others, including their families, neighbourhoods, and local communities.
The challenge is to come up with a great idea that will pioneer ways to help vulnerable older people deal more effectively with life-changing events.
Ideas also need to reflect all five themes:
• Helping older people to help themselves
• Working with others
• Managing better
• Testing new ways of working
For more information about the Fund and to see if you are eligible to apply, visit: www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/prog_silver_dreams_fund, or contact the Big Advice Line, on 0845 4 10 20 30. Please note the closing date for the initial submission of ideas is Friday 28 October 2011.
Manchester Community Central can offer some limited support to voluntary groups thinking of submitting an idea. This will be on a first come first served basis and will be dependant upon groups meeting our eligibility criteria. To find out more contact us on 0333 321 3021.
Deadline to request support: Friday 21 October 2011
