Manchester Metropolitan University research into Male survivors of honour-based violence and/or forced marriages

This research project working with male survivors of honour-based violence and/or forced marriages is in collaboration with the Derbyshire Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse Service (DDVSAS) and Nottinghamshire Community Housing Association (NCHA). Manchester Metropolitan University

The work aims to have an impact on law, policy and the protection of vulnerable men. Maz intends to publish his findings in a new book. He also plans to showcase the findings in a series of articles and workshops with the aforementioned support organisations to highlight the need to provide better provision and protection for men fleeing such violence.

Mohammad Mazher Idriss’ research focuses on violence against women and men in South-Asian communities including honour-based violence and forced marriages. He is in the process of completing his PhD at Anglia Ruskin University on this subject.

He has published a number of academic articles on these subjects and has written for the Criminal Law Review, Journal of Criminal Law, Journal of Social Welfare and Family Law and the International Journal of Comparative and Applied Criminal Justice.

Maz takes a socio-legal approach to teaching and research covering contemporary topics such as the sentencing of defendants, the treatment of victims, and terrorism and the law, as well as forced marriages and honour-based violence.
