NCVO Campaign - Give it back, George - drop the charity tax

28 Mar 2012 - 14:48 by michelle.foster

The cap on income tax reliefs that George Osborne announced in the Budget will negatively affect many voluntary sector organisations, both large and small.

It will discourage the major donors that give large, one-off donations to many charities. And it's important to remember that today's gifts are also tomorrow's grants. These donors are behind many of the grant-giving trusts and foundations that support frontline organisations.

It's also worrying that the Treasury are now equating giving to charity with avoiding tax.

NCVO have launched a campaign to get the Chancellor to reverse this decision.
