The Pride of Gorton Awards

25 Jul 2014 - 10:29 by michelle.foster

Greater Manchester Police have worked with the local community to significantly disrupt criminal activity in Gorton, resulting in numerous cash seizures under the Proceed of Crime Act. Some of the money taken from criminals has been used for The Pride of Gorton Awards, so that local residents and community groups can be recognised for the huge difference they make to their local area.

“We are extremely passionate about the Gorton community, and we’re keen to recognise the special people who make a difference to those around them. Many of the people who devote much of their lives to helping others go without any recognition at all. So we would welcome nominations from anybody in relation to individuals or community groups that work, live, volunteer or study within the Gorton North and Gorton South Wards to apply, so we can reveal their inspirational stories and say a great big ‘thank you’.” Inspector JP Ruffle
The ceremony will take place on Sunday 12 October 2014, 6pm to 9pm at Gorton Monastery.

The categories are:
Category 1 – Community pride award
Category 2 – Taking a stand award
Category 3 – Children and young people’s champion
Category 4 – Outstanding neighbour award
Category 5 – Pubwatch community contribution award
Category 6 – Clean and green award
Category 7 – Outstanding service to the community award
Category 8 – Making a difference award
Category 9 – Outstanding neighbourhood officer award

The three nominees from each category will be invited with a guest and the nominator to a sit down meal and receive recognition for their fantastic work.

Nominations close on 14 September 2014.
