Spirit of Manchester Festival 19-28 September

30 Jul 2014 - 13:18 by michelle.foster

Following the great success of The Spirit of Manchester Awards last year, Macc wants to extend the event to include a city-wide show case of talents, creativity and interests in the thousands of staff, volunteers and supporters across Manchester.

Come and get involved!
We hope to fill the 19-28 September with a programme of events taking place all across the city from youth groups putting on music, dance and poetry to exhibitions of local community photographers and artists.

We hope to encourage local people to organise their own events. The idea is that these should all be small events on a ‘pass the hat’ basis asking people to donate to the charity or community group in return for the entertainment or experience they’ve enjoyed.

Our aims:
• Raise awareness of the sector’s work amongst local residents
• Raise the voices of the people involved with local community organisations
• Raise a bit of money to support the work of the volunteer and community sector

Promoting events
Macc will be there to assist on promoting the festival across the city as well as to administer the online calendar for the festival. Groups should register their events with Macc so they can be published on our website: www.manchestercommunitycentral.org/spirit-manchester-awards-2014-festival

We will also provide branding for the event so that the festival can be seen as an expression of the city as a whole.

Events should be admission free and the entertainment should showcase the talents within your organisations as we want to display all the hidden talents and creativity within the local sector.

As well as promoting the events we will also offer advice on good practice in organising small events as well as information regarding issues such as liability, insurance and health and safety.

If have any questions regarding the festival please contact [email protected]

We hope the festival will be a great success and something that we can repeat year on year.
