UpRising Internship

7 Sep 2012 - 11:19 by michelle.foster

UpRising is an organisation dedicated to supporting and developing young adults aged 19–25 from diverse backgrounds in order to become the next generation of effective and connected leaders across the public, private and voluntary sectors. Its unique combination of leadership training, mentoring and campaigning means that young adults gain personally from the programme and importantly, they give back to their local communities.

UpRising was developed and launched by the Young Foundation in 2008 in East London. The programme expanded into Birmingham in 2010, Bedford in 2011 and recently launched in Manchester. UpRising aims to expand to other major cities across the UK in the future.

This internship is an opportunity to work on one of the Young Foundation’s flagship social ventures, which is due to become an independent charity by January 2013.

Young Foundation internships offer a real chance for people to get a taste of working in social innovation - research, policy and practical application. People of all ages, experiences and backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Interns will work alongside the team of staff at the offices in Manchester on a number of organisational and administrative activities, from desk-based research to events organisation.

Interns attend staff meetings and brainstorming sessions and are encouraged to attend training opportunities in the London office with interns there. Interns are introduced to all aspects of UpRising’s work and ensure that their input forms a relevant and valuable contribution to on-going work.

Interviews will be held in Manchester on Friday 21 September 2012
