£80,000 is available to bring together an alliance of community organisations who can offer the following interventions in Moss Side, Rusholme and Hulme:
Grants of up to £10,000 for organisations working in early years; financial wellbeing; mental health and wellbeing; and sexual abuse and domestic violence.
There are 12 Sector Challenges across four sectors most affected by COVID-19: early years; financial wellbeing; mental health and wellbeing; and sexual abuse and domestic violence.
The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) have commissioned 10GM to deliver a programme of work around community-led approaches. The first two Pilot areas are Bolton covering the area of New Bury and in Manchester covering Moss Side, Rusholme and Hulme.

Manchester Deaf Centre is setting up a mutual support group for d/Deaf male ex-offenders. This support group is being set up together with CMS and funding from the Movember Foundation. It follows a pilot mutual support group for d/Deaf ex-offenders in Lancashire.
The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation and Manchester City Council are working together to offer two free six week online training courses in Greater Manchester.
Restorative Justice is a process of bringing a victim of crime into direct communication with the person who caused the harm, in order to have a place to discuss issues. Greater Manchester Restorative Justice Service (GMRJS) gets referrals from Greater Manchester Police about cases that they believe are suitable. This work takes a little pressure off the police and can help people avoid court if they participate positively, and saves time for other cases.
Hestia have developed a new service for employers and organisations to support their employees find domestic abuse support.
Everyone’s Business works with employers so that they can provide information, resources and practical guidance to employees who have experienced domestic abuse. When employers take action and respond to domestic abuse we know it saves lives.
Leading women’s groups have recently published a short report on the numerous new problems women are facing in the criminal and family justice systems due to COVID, and have called on the Government to show curiosity and leadership to alleviate these, alongside resourcing and measures to keep children safe.
On 22 June 2020, the Government announced that the Home Office had secured additional, one-off emergency support funding for small/micro charities that are working in marginalised communities with vulnerable young people at risk of being involved in serious violence.
