Social investment is the use of repayable finance to achieve a social as well as a financial return. It was designed by charities and social enterprises and developed in collaboration with Access, Big Society Capital, Government and key sector partners. 
Radio 1 and 1Xtra Newsbeat is hosting a live discussion programme in Manchester on 6 June leading up to the general election. It’s an opportunity for young voters to explain how they’re feeling about the vote on 8 June.

The Together Trust is a charity, founded in 1870 in the centre of Manchester. Every year 2,600 vulnerable individuals and families receive a service in the North West of England from their community, care or special education services delivered by their committed workforce of 900+ staff and volunteers.

The Institute of Community Reporters (ICR) is currently working in communities around Greater Manchester to gather people’s experiences and views on public services. They are training up groups of people as Community Reporters to use pocket devices and technology to record these experiences as video or audio stories, and share them with others online. 
Black African and Caribbean elders develop dementia earlier than their White counterparts, but often delay help-seeking until crisis point. Delaying help-seeking has negative effects on future outcomes for patients and carers as it reduces access to treatment, care and support, independent living, and quality of life. 
The Koestler Trust is delighted to announce the launch of their very first regional mentoring hub. Since 2007, The Koestler Trust’s arts mentoring scheme has been supporting people leaving prison to use the arts to transform their lives. Having gone from strength to strength, the scheme is now looking to have a more dedicated regional presence across the UK, starting in the North West of England.
