Before being forced to flee their home country, many people were working or studying. However in Greater Manchester unemployment for refugees is high, at around 44%, compared to 6% across the general population. 
As many of you will be aware, Young Manchester is a new charity focused on supporting Youth and Play Services in the city. Young Manchester’s mission is to help improve the life chances of children and young people by giving them access to high-quality, inclusive opportunities.
Over the past six months Young Manchester have developed a strong Board of Trustees comprising highly experienced and committed leaders from across the voluntary and community, private and public sectors.
The University of Manchester has a Student Experience Internship scheme which provides funding to pay for a limited number of students to undertake an eight week summer internship within organisations in the charity and not-for-profit sector in Manchester. 
Flu is an unpredictable virus that can cause mild or unpleasant illness in most people. It can cause severe illness and even death among vulnerable groups including older people, pregnant women and people with an underlying health condition.

The Charity Awards is Civil Society Media’s annual awards programme held to identify, recognise and reward those organisations doing exceptional work in all areas of charitable activity. 
Now in its 18th year, The Charity Awards is a year-round programme that uses Civil Society Media’s portfolio of magazines, reports, events and websites to celebrate and highlight best practice across the sector.
The fourth meeting of the co-design group was held on 18th November. Based on the work done in previous sessions, the group designed funding model options and considered the benefits of different approaches. The models suggested have been written up into a consultation document which will be sent out in the new year. There will also be consultation meetings.
