Manchester State of the City Report 2016

This Manchester City Council report marks the end of their Community Strategy approved in 2006. It details the 'period of transformational change' seen in the city over the last ten years. It also sets out a number of issues still to be resolved and states that some inequalities and challenges have been made worse by the impact of welfare reform and cuts to public services.

The Our Manchester Forum provides strategic leadership on the delivery of the city’s priorities, as set out in the Our Manchester strategy. The Forum is also responsible for ensuring that the new Our Manchester approach is embedded in all sectors of the city.

Last week saw the launch of a new domestic abuse campaign in Greater Manchester. This is a multi-agency, partnership campaign developed by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner in consultation with Greater Manchester Police and local authorities.

Emmeline’s Pantry Parlour aim to provide each referred family with a starter, main course and dessert for Christmas day. Emmeline’s Pantry Parlour also wants to ensure they have food for two weeks of the holiday season. These include fresh food, non-perishable items, fruit and vegetables.

Sleep Out Event in Support of Young Homeless People in Manchester

For one night Young People’s Support Foundation in partnership with Centrepoint asks you to swop your bed for a sleeping bag and sleep out so that homeless young people don’t have to.

The Sleep Out is taking place on 16 November 2016, 7pm to 7am at the Victoria Warehouse, Manchester.

Join in the Sleep Out in Manchester where Phenoix Night’s Justin Moorhouse will also be on hand to keep you all entertained.

British Science Week Community Grant Scheme

The mission of the British Science Week Community Grant Scheme is to expand the audiences that engage with science and self-identify as having an interest in science. The aim is to empower and support community groups to run their own science activities during British Science Week (10-19 March 2017). This grant scheme offers £500-1000 for community groups that work directly with audiences who are traditionally under-represented in science activity.
