African Health Needs Assessment – Focus Groups

An African Health Needs Assessment has been commissioned by the Department of Health (DoH) and is being led by the Terrence Higgins Trust and a number of other partners.

Although The Terrence Higgins Trust is an HIV charity, this part of the project is a more general assessment of health needs of specifically Black African people living in the UK.

All of this will be fed back to the DoH to help them shape their funding and resources to ensure they meet the needs of UK citizens.

Each year, Ernst & Young, a global firm of professional advisers with approximately 10,000 employees in the UK, recruits a number of graduates to train as accountants, tax advisers or corporate finance specialists.

Two independent HR / Management Consultants who work with Ernst & Young to support the learning and development initiatives and help maximise the potential of their people are running approximately 45 two day programmes involving workshiops to develop the personal skills of the Ernst & Young second year trainees.

Hodgson Review calls for a 'new settlement' for charities

Charities should be given more control and freedom over how they are run, Lord Hodgson has said in his report on the Charities Act 2006.

Last year, the Government appointed Lord Hodgson to conduct a wide-ranging review of the Charities Act 2006 to investigate whether it is fit for purpose. He was asked to consider if better regulation is needed and whether the existing rules are enabling charities to operate easily. The Government will carefully consider his recommendations.

The Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund was established to promote, enhance, improve and protect both the natural and built environment in the local community. The Trustees award grants of a maximum of £3,000.

The Community Trust Fund award grants to a maximum of £3,000.00. To be successful a group must:
• Carry out positive work in the community and be of charitable nature and be ‘Not for Profit’ status.
• Be Community, Socially or Environmentally focused
• Based within the area of benefit

• Over the next year, MCC are offering a range of Apprenticeship posts to support out of work and disadvantaged Manchester residents and young people into employment

WHAT WILL APPRENTICES BE OFFERED?

• Pay scale: You will be recruited to a permanent role as an ‘Apprentice’ into a Grade 1 position at scale point 6 - £12,489. An incremental pay scale framework would then allow the individual to progress through to the normal scale for the role to which they have been aligned.

The Royal Brewery Fund’s priority is to encourage and support grass-root community activity. This means small, community-based and locally controlled groups that manage themselves, encourage active participation from volunteers, have minimal cash reserves and limited access to funding support.
