Allsorts to do over the Summer school holidays

There really is ‘allsorts’ for young Mancunians to do over the school holidays this Summer – try a different activity to learn new skills or just develop those you’ve already got.

Whether you fancy yourself as a BMX pro, or just want to kick a ball about with friends, the wide range of activities should keep all age-groups busy – you can even get involved in a Circus Skills workshop.

Childcare Investment Readiness Fund

The Childcare Investment Readiness Fund is a £500,000 pilot fund, managed by Social Investment Business on behalf of Department for Education that aims to support early years and childcare social enterprises looking to expand their presence in the early years market.

The Fund will provide grants to early years and childcare social enterprises for the purchase of specific capacity building support to help facilitate their growth and become more appealing to investors. Applicants must have a proven track record and the potential to expand their services into new locations.

Manchester parents needed for UK's largest bilingual project

Anna Coates, a Research Assistant, at the University of Manchester is currently working on the UK's largest bilingual project and is recruiting children who are 18-24 months old and who hear English and an additional language.

Parents of these children simply need to sign up to the study online and complete 3 short questionnaires when their child is approaching 2 years old.

Manchester City Council have  published their Market Position Statement for Care and Support 2015/16 and anyone with an interest in the future of care and support in Manchester should read it. Manchester's aim is "to forge a new relationship with its partners to benefit all who need care". The Market Position Statement describes the commissioning approach, the context for commissioning and some of the key issues that Manchester needs to address.

Manchester City Council - Manchester common assessment framework update

Manchester City Council have released the following update in March 2015 on the Manchester Common Assessment (MCAF) for Children and Young People:

‘Manchester common assessment framework (MCAF) is still a vital part of our early help offer to support children and families effectively.

Work is currently taking place to refresh the early help assessment tools that we will use in the future, but until this work is completed it is vital that the MCAF continues to be used.
