To complement Manchester Volunteer Centre's existing volunteer induction package, Greater Manchester Youth Network are providing an introductory session about youth work volunteering on 7th June 2018. This also coincides with Volunteer’s Week 2018.

GMYN's Volunteer Infrastructure Project (VIP) offers bespoke packages of support to organisations across the city of Manchester to aid them in their involvement of volunteers in young people's settings. VIP have a strong history of delivering Introductory Youth Work training programmes and are once again offering short taster session focusing on an ‘Introduction to Youth Work Volunteering’ this June.

This training is for volunteers who have attended an induction session with Manchester Volunteer's Centre, who are administering bookings for this event. For any enquiries about the Volunteer Infrastructure Project or content of the training please contact [email protected]

The session will explore the following topics:

  • Working with young people, youth work values and understanding the needs of young people
  • Building appropriate relationships with young people, managing boundaries, observing safeguarding practices and creating safe spaces.
  • What youth work volunteering might involve.
  • An input of current volunteering opportunities with young people by Manchester Volunteer’s Centre.
