Macc Policy Network Meeting

Registration is closed for this event
This second meeting of the Macc Policy Network is for anyone involved in policy for a Manchester VCSE organisation.

The first meeting of Macc’s Policy Network was held on 29 May. It was really informative and the participants agreed that it was well worth continuing.

At this next meeting, Hayley from Manchester Citizens Advice Bureau will be doing an informal briefing about an area of policy she is involved in.

The agreed approach to the meetings, at least at first, will be that:

- Policy is being used as a broad term and includes any relevant information about people, organisations, strategies, meetings, legislation, reports, stats and national and local policy.

- Everyone contributes and speaks briefly about one recent and important policy development issue in their area of expertise to alert others to developments in their field.

- One of the group does an informal briefing on one of the areas of policy they are involved in, no slides required.

- Chatham House rules apply – it’s okay to talk about what you’ve learnt but not to say who said it or in which meeting.

In the future, speakers may be invited.

The breadth of knowledge of the participants at the first meeting was very impressive and the policy areas covered included:

BME and education
Youth crime
Early intervention and children
Safeguarding
Inclusion
Legal aid
Homelessness prevention
Young people and poverty
Mental health law
Transition into community from prison
Adult social care
Transport
