Social Investment - Is it right for you?

Registration is closed for this event
Social investment is the use of repayable finance to achieve a social as well as a financial return and is seen as an alternative option explored by charities and social enterprises as a way of financing their work.

Investors will expect their money back but are also interested in the social impact created by the work that you are doing.

Social investment isn’t suitable for every organisation and is less well-known than other funding types so how do you find out if social investment is right for your organisation now, later or perhaps not at all? How do you start exploring social investment?

We are running this information session, aimed at VCSE organisations from within the city of Manchester, to give you the opportunity to find out more. The session will cover:

  • What is social investment & why would you consider it?
  • Types of social investment
  • Benefits and implications of social investment
  • Alternative sources of income – looking at where social investment fits
  • How does it work?
  • Who is it for (and who is it not for)?
  • How to be organisationally prepared: looking at values, missions, governance and impact
  • Case studies – examples of where it has worked well
  • Walk through a specific and current social investment opportunity with social impact investment company Resonance
  • Where to find further information and help on social investment

Delivered by Macc and partners Resonance and One Manchester, this session is ideal for those wanting more information on social investment and will combine theory and knowledge with real examples of local social investment in action.
