1.00 p.m.- 3.00 p.m. with lunch

The Big Alcohol Conversation is being held across Greater Manchester, with events, focus groups and surveys to find out more about what people think about alcohol and how it influences issues such as:

  • People's health - what do we feel about 'drinking responsibly?' Is it easy to find out health information about drinking alcohol, and where do we get our information from?
  • Community safety - how does alcohol affect how we feel going out and about in our city?
  • The economy - many of our most prominent businesses are clubs, pubs, bars and restaurants which serve alcohol as part of what they do
  • How easy it is to get alcohol - should there be a minumum price per unit?  Should corner shops and garages be able to sell it, and shouuld there be more or fewer restrictions on the times you can buy alcohol?
  • The impact on our public services - dealing with alcohol-related issues costs over £500 for every person in Greater Manchester.

Over 7,000 people have taken part in the conversation so far.  Macc is hosting this Next Steps event during National Alcohol Awareness week so you can hear more about the findings so far, and find out how to get involved with the next steps, which include developing an Alcohol Ambition and action plan for Greater Manchester.  For more information, contact [email protected]
