Are you looking for a group of volunteers? Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh are looking to offer help!

Who?

Our group is called Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS). The group includes students of all ages as well as professional men and women. We are a community organisation aimed at developing social and leadership skills in young and adult Hindus.

When?

We are doing this as a community service in relation to the 'Sewa Day'. Sewa refers to selfless service. Sewa day is on October 14th, but we can be available on two to three Saturdays and Sundays around that.

What?

For this volunteering cause, we would like to work as families and friends of different ages to support and encourage each other. In the past, we have worked with local schools and councils to help paint, decorate, cleaning parks, gardening etc. We would like to do more humanitarian work with needy people in the community integrating with other community organisations. We are happy to participate in a day event to support and work with community homes, elderly and needy people.

We are a non-funded group and hence may not be able to support either financially or through other means. If we need to bring any tools for any work we may be able to bring our own personal ones.

How many?

We are a group of 100 to 150 individuals of all ages. Depending on the size and number of projects we can be available in small groups of 10 to 20 people.

You can contact Narayan Prabhu at [email protected] to discuss this further.

What is Employer Supported Volunteering (ESV)?

Organisations in the private and public sectors can and do encourage their own staff to volunteer in their own time or provide opportunities for staff to volunteer in work time (eg by allowing volunteering leave). This is usually referred to as employer supported volunteering or ESV for short.

Some organisations may set up more regular arrangements or partnerships with businesses to work on a particular project together on a time-limited basis or to develop opportunities for employees to volunteer on an ongoing basis.
