Chrysalis Manchester
Chrysalis Manchester was initially established to support and empower teenage mothers who dropped out of formal education due to unplanned pregnancies. They were unable to parent their children due to a lack of parenting skills. This led to the removal of these children into care. Sex education is now being taught in schools and so, there is a significant reduction in teenage pregnancy. we have since moved on to address other issues facing families such as domestic violence, These include tackling food poverty in families, supporting refugees and asylum seekers, supporting families facing domestic violence, teaching English to families whose first language is not English, providing a safe space for separated couples to have contact with their children who happen to be with one of the parents, encouraging young people who are not academically inclined to acquire skills.
