Friends of Boggart Hole Clough
FoBHC aims, through community engagement, to make Boggart Hole Clough (a north Manchester park) a sustainable, thriving place for people and wildlife.
FoBHC is a democratic organisation of volunteers open to all. We work in partnership with, among other individuals and organisations, Manchester City Council, landowner of the Clough.
Free Natural History Walks exploring Boggart Hole Clough Ancient Woodland Park every Saturday starting 10am outside the Lakeside Café with walk around the Lake carrying out our Weekly Waterbirds Survey. Walks on other days by arrangement.
The Clough and adjacent Bailey’s Wood are Ancient Semi-Natural Woodlands described by Natural England as “irreplaceable” and of “prime ecological and landscape importance.” Ecologists report these woodlands to be in an “unfavourable condition” as are other aspects of the area.
We study the area’s past and present condition including its wildlife habitats, identify and map fauna & flora species, and research, discuss and promote restoring biodiversity health.
Everyone can join FoBHC activities, as our Equal Opportunities Policy affirms. Joining is free.
All ages welcome. Under 16s must be accompanied by parent or guardian.
