Events

Various events will be held virtually and in-person across Manchester, starting with Whitworth Art Gallery's two-day festival, starting on the 22 July, with free events.

Saturday 22 July

Film screening 6:30-8:30pm -The Singh Twins - Jallianwala: Repression & Retribution,followed by a discussion with Dr Deana Heath author of 'Colonial Terror: Torture and State Violence in Colonial India'.  Register here

Sunday 23 July

  • Celebration of Bengali Folk Musical Heritage-curated by Anindita Ghosh- 12-1pm - showcases Bengali musical traditions. Additionally, a short film screening called 'Our Songs'. Register here
  • Meet the South Asian Gallery team from the Manchester Museum that will open to the public in 2023, 2-3pm. Register here
  • Writing workshop with Anita Sethi -12-2pm - Anita is an award-winning author of 'I Belong Here:a Journey Along the Backbone of Britain'. Writing about themes, including journeying, can bring a sense of belonging. Register here
  • Poetry workshop exploring taboo topics including mental health and sex with OSCH (Our Shared Cultural Heritage). Register here. It is also a drop-in which does not require registeration. Multiple timings:

Wednesday 27 July - Manchester Central Library in the Performance Space

Workshop and book launch titled 'Tangled In Terror, Uprooting Islamophobia' with Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan

Saturday 6 August - Reset Your Mind Through Meditation
