Project summary: Pilot debt advice service run by a part-time Debt Adviser with 10 trained volunteers for people experiencing mental ill-health to resolve financial crises, stabilise situations, manage debts, and maximise incomes via face-to-face debt advice appointments. Detailed casework for those with complex debt problems e.g. to negotiate with creditors, stop bailiffs, prevent homelessness, prevent debt fees. Provide access to online budgeting and other money management tools.

Organisation summary: CHAC’s primary purpose is to provide confidential advice, information and support to people from Cheetham and Crumpsall - an ethnically diverse and highly deprived area of Manchester - in order to alleviate poverty and improve health and wellbeing. CHAC was developed by the community 39 years ago and is now the sole surviving neighbourhood advice centre in Manchester.
