We have lots of stories to tell and connections with thousands of people and organisations across the city. We think this exciting new post of Media Assistant could help us make an even bigger impact and it’s a great opportunity for someone looking to build a career in graphic design and visual media. You would also be working on our Community Reporter programme to capture great stories via video, audio and images.
Are you already coming up with eye-catching designs online, sharing photos or produced your own ‘zines or videos? Come and be creative with us, and we will support you to develop your skills further.
You’ll need the following:
- Some experience and a genuine interest in design and visual media, and the desire to learn more
- A passion to help people, communities and the voluntary sector in Manchester tell their stories
- A good standard of written and spoken English
This role is a chance to work in the heart of Manchester, to meet some amazing people in local communities, to use and further develop your creative talents and skills, and build your portfolio of work in a professional environment.

How to apply
Please send us your CV and a covering letter or video (the letter should be no longer than two sides of A4 and the video should be a maximum of three minutes) explaining why you are interested in this role and what experience you have had (paid, voluntary or a hobby) in design and visual media.
Also, send us at least two examples of your work with your application. This doesn’t have to be from paid or voluntary work but it should show the sort of thing you can do. The work can be in online, printed or electronic format but it must be your own work – created, designed and produced by you.
