Consultation: funding for voluntary and community sector organisations in Manchester

11 Jan 2017 - 09:17 by michelle.foster

Manchester City Council fund many voluntary and community sector organisations. They’re an important part of the city providing care, support and help to Manchester people. Manchester City Council

Manchester City Council wants to make sure they get the best value for money, and provide that money in a way that helps organisations to do good work.

Over the past few months Manchester City Council have been working with a ‘co-design group’ made up of people from the council, voluntary and community sector organisations and the NHS, to come up with some new options for funding the voluntary sector in Manchester. The remit of the ‘co-design group’ is to generate options to be shared more widely for discussion and debate with the VCSE sector. Click here for more information about the 'co-design group'. The Council have based these proposals on the Our Manchester Strategy

Now the Council wants your views.

Specifically the Council wants your views on their proposals for:
the priorities they think they should have for voluntary and community sector funding
the principles they will follow when deciding who to give funding to
two options for funding schemes they could use
infrastructure support – the support, advice and training they give voluntary and community sector organisations on things like management, finance and volunteering, and giving those organisations a voice

You can also see the areas of funding affected by these proposals

Read through the proposals and have your say on an online form. The consultation closes on Sunday 12 February.
