Cracking Good Food - Octogenarian Cooking at Manchester Food and Drink Festival

19 Sep 2017 - 09:05 by michelle.foster

Cracking Good Food will be at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival 4 October, 3pm-5pm at the Festival Hub Albert Square Cooking with octogenarians.

Come along and taste the food of the Octogenarian Cooks – a group of older people sharing their recipes and cooking skills.

Under-nutrition is a major cause of functional decline and mortality amongst older people. It can lead to poorer health outcomes, but it often goes unnoticed amongst older people.

Shopping and cooking can be a challenge in older age. Not only due to health issues and affordability but also because many older people live alone. Yet older people often have great cooking skills and tasty recipes to share. Cooking and eating together can also have a positive impact on your well-being.

The event brings together the University of Manchester, Cracking Good Food, the leading chef Maz Linford and older people from across Manchester to cook and share food using recipes old and new.

You will be able to join in the cooking and share the food. If you have a suitable recipe to share please bring it along.

Funding for transport is available email: [email protected]

There is no charge for this event.
