Deadlines Introduced for New NHS Continuing Healthcare Assessments During 2004-2012

Earlier this year, the Department of Health announced the introduction of deadlines for new cases which require assessment of eligibility for NHS Continuing Healthcare funding.

Sir David Nicholson has written to NHS colleagues to inform them of the introduction of deadlines for individuals or their families and representatives wishing to request an assessment of eligibility for NHS Continuing Healthcare for cases during the period April 2004 to March 2012.

The deadlines are relevant to cases from the following time periods:

• For cases during the period 1st April 2004 – 31st March 2011 the deadline for individuals or their families and representatives to notify the relevant PCT will be 30th September 2012

• For cases during the period 1st April 2011 – 31st March 2012 the deadline for individuals or their families and representatives to notify the relevant PCT will be 31st March 2013
