This Girl Can – Community Fund

24 Jan 2020 - 11:19 by michelle.foster

This Girl CanThis fund aims to support women aged 16+ to get active by offering National Lottery grants to local projects that will contribute to overcoming the barriers some women face in getting active: from a lack of opportunities offered in their local area, to cost and availability of childcare.

The fund is looking to support a wide range of ideas – from those that just need a few hundred pounds, to larger projects nearer £10,000.

Not-for-profit organisations, voluntary or community clubs, registered charities or community interest companies can apply. Ideas from individuals who’d like funding for a group activity which isn’t for individual gain will also be reviewed. Organisations established to make a profit can get involved provided the project doesn’t realise a distributable profit. The fund would also be interested to hear from other social enterprises and schools or statutory bodies.

What will be funded?
Activities that get women’s heart rate up, whatever form that may take: from Bollywood dance and walking to boxing and yoga. The decisions on which ideas to support will be based on the difference that can be made with the funding rather than the items or services bought with it.

The fund welcomes ideas with a short-term focus as well as those which will provide longer-term support to help women achieve sustainable behaviour change.
