Greater Manchester’s first Festival of Ageing is seeking people from across the city-region to get involved

The Festival of Ageing will take place from the 2 July to 15 July. The celebratory event will portray a more positive view of ageing, as well as encouraging policy-makers to take the action needed to improve the lives of Greater Manchester’s 907,000 older people – a figure set to rise to 1.1million in the next twenty years. The Festival, which is part of Ambition for Ageing, will offer a range of activities, fun, music, dancing, hobbies, physical activities, information and lots of opportunities to join in or create your own festival fringe event.

Leading on the festival is charity 4CT, who are urging people to get involved now by registering for a limited-edition festival wristband, applying for funding or information to host an event, getting in touch to volunteer for the festival or signing up to perform during the festival.

Dates for the main events in the Festival of Ageing:
Launch event: Manchester City Centre – Monday 2 July
Bolton town centre – Tuesday 3 July
Bury  town centre – Wednesday 4 July
Wigan DW Stadium – Thursday 5 July
Rochdale – Friday 6 July
Salford Quays – Saturday 7 July
Tameside Ashton town centre – Tuesday 10 July
Oldham – Friday 13 July
Finale event: Manchester – Sunday 15 July

Launch
4CT are particularly looking for agencies / groups who might want a have a stall or activity at the launch on Monday 2 July in Manchester. Ideally groups who can come along and do an ‘interactive’ activity and share information about their services under the following themes: Arts and culture, Health and wellbeing, Hobbies, Information or Physical activity. The Festival has opened for registrations – 4CT is looking for events that would like to run alongside the main festival events, performers for events and individuals to register to attend (pre-registration gives individuals an entry wristband to all open events and a printed programme).  Visit: www.ambitionforageing.org.uk/festival or contact 0161 230 1438 to register by 16 May 2018.

4CT will keep posting updates as times, venues and activities are confirmed with the first online Festival programme being available from 23 May 2018.
